Red Hill Valley Archaeological Project

The Joint Stewardship Board – made up of representatives from City of Hamilton and the Six Nations community – approached ASI about the possibility of bringing artifacts from the Red Hill Valley Parkway’s archaeological project to the City Hall display cases in the Council Chambers foyer at 71 Main St West in Hamilton. ASI happily prepared a temporary exhibit of artifacts for the board, with the selected objects covering the entire 12,000 year occupation of the valley.

The exhibit was installed at Hamilton’s City Hall on Monday April 7, 2014, and includes First Nations pre-contact stone tools, pottery, polished bone implements and smoking pipes, as well as nineteenth-century Euro-Canadian historical objects such as ceramic dining wares, utensils, and personal items.

The artifacts were featured on display at City Hall until May 16th, 2015, at which time they travelled to the GREAT Atrium at Six Nations for another six week exhibition.
