Death or Canada

The feature length film “Death or Canada” tells the story of Irish immigration to Toronto during the summer of 1847. The potato famine raging in Ireland caused thousands to leave their homeland for North America. Many ships landed in Toronto during that summer with scores of passengers sick with typhus. This film follows the young town’s efforts to cope with its newest residents, hundreds of whom needed urgent medical care.
