ASI also supports, through research and expert testimony, legal initiatives concerning treaty and/or Indigenous rights. We can bring unparalleled expertise and experience with the Ontario archaeological record, within the broader north-eastern North America context, to determine the nature and extent of pre-contact and contact period cultural practices.

We also have extensive familiarity with the documentary record of early European visitors in north-eastern North America and have considerable experience in preparing documents for use in legal proceedings.  This experience has been undertaken directly for First Nations and in support of accommodation in Indigenous consultation programs in which we have been involved.
